Title I Title I is enforced by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Discrimination claims must be filed with the EEOC within 180 days of the discriminating action. If a settlement cannot be reached through the arbitration of EEOC, the complainant has the right to go to court. Charges of employment discrimination on the basis of disability may be filed at any U.S. EEOC field office. The employer is notified after a charge is filed. Charges are then investigated and can lead to mediation, dismissal of the charge, or permission for the person submitting the complaint to pursue legal action.
